Guidelines and Standards for Storm Doors

Style

No variations on this specification are permitted accept where ADA regulations require a change. The color of the door must match the original color of your front door when installed.

Dimensions:   3’ X 6’9" Ultra-View Storm Door

  • Full view with removable screen and glass window
  • Bottom kick panel dimension: 3 ½"
  • Side rail dimension: 3 ½"
  • Top rail dimension: 3 ½"
  • Glassed area dimension: 28" X 72"
  • Door thickness: 1 ½"

Hinge-type Butt style

Hinge finish options:

  • Bright polished brass - for wood or aluminum doors
  • To match door color - for aluminum doors

Door Handle Style options:

  • Round knob
  • Lever
  • Tulip

Finish options : Bright/polished brass

Brass kick-plates Standard on most aluminum doors

Mechanical Considerations Pump/retracting mechanism and chain should be mounted so as not to be seen through the glass area.

Still sweep options

  • Brass finished - wood or aluminum doors
  • Wood painted to match the door - wood doors only
  • Aluminum painted to match the door - aluminum doors only

Glass specifications Smooth Clear Non-beveled Tempered safety type - 1/8" thick OR Thermal double glass

Mounting Door must be hung on the inner-most jamb so that the hinges are mounted to the wood casing.

Color & Finish Color must match the original color of the interior front door for both wood and aluminum doors. Colors available through the Sherwin Williams store on Waltham Woods in North Plaza Shopping Center. Specific color/number information can be obtained from the ARC.

  • Variations in color will require the door be repainted or removed all together.
  • Color information will be provided on your approval letter.

Finish Recommendations: Wood Door

  • Prime with an oil primer
  • Finish coast may be applied by brush or spray

Aluminum Door

  • Clean door to remove any dirt and/or oil
  • Prime with Grip and Seal primer (let dry 24 hours)
  • Use a latex paint on the door (1 to 2 coats)
  • Use a foam sponge brush to apply latex paint

Notes Decorative appliqués or moldings are not acceptable. Painting of screens is not permitted . Storm door colors must be an exact match to the original color of the front door.
